AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH DROPOUT PREVENTION PROGRAMS AT HIGH SCHOOLS IN BERNALILLO, SANTA FE AND VALENCIA COUNTIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to contract with a private nonprofit organization to establish dropout prevention programs for students from Valley, Rio Grande and West Mesa high schools in Bernalillo county; Santa Fe Indian school in Santa Fe county; and Los Lunas high school in Valencia county. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
