FOR THE CORRECTIONS OVERSIGHT AND JUSTICE COMMITTEE

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE A SALARY INCREASE FOR ADULT CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS AND JAILERS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three million five hundred sixty-two thousand dollars ($3,562,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to provide a salary increase of one dollar ($1.00) per hour for adult correctional officers and jailers. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
