AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO SERVE PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES NOW ON THE CENTRAL REGISTRY WAITING LIST AND TO FUND SELF-DIRECTED SERVICES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Six million seven hundred thousand dollars ($6,700,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) six million two hundred thousand dollars ($6,200,000) to serve approximately four hundred persons on the central registry waiting list for the developmental disabilities medicaid waiver program who are not being served due to lack of funds;

(2) four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) to fund self-directed services for persons with developmental disabilities to promote self-determination; and

(3) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to fund fiscal intermediary and brokering support and services for those who choose self-directed services.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
