AN ACT

RELATING TO DRIVER'S LICENSES; ENACTING PROCEDURES TO CANCEL A DECEASED PERSON'S DRIVER'S LICENSE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. A new section of the Motor Vehicle Code is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] NOTIFICATION OF DEATH--CANCELLATION OF LICENSE.--

A. The state registrar of vital statistics shall file monthly with the secretary certified lists of deceased residents over the age of fifteen.

B. The monthly certified list of deceased residents shall show the:

(1) name;

(2) age;

(3) sex;

(4) birth date;

(5) social security number, if any;

(6) address; and

(7) place and date of death of the deceased resident.

C. The secretary, upon receipt of the monthly certified list of deceased residents, shall cancel any deceased resident's driver's license."
