AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A STATEWIDE "211" TELEPHONE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL PROGRAM AND A PILOT PROGRAM IN DONA ANA COUNTY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the developmental disabilities planning council for expenditure in fiscal years 2002 and 2003 to develop a statewide "211" telephone information and referral program in the following amounts:

(1) eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) for development of a statewide "211" comprehensive implementation plan, including a tariff structure based on existing agreements for such services; and

(2) seventy thousand dollars ($70,000) for development of a "211" information and referral pilot program in Dona Ana county.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
