AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE JUDICIAL SALARIES COMMENSURATE WITH HISTORICAL INCREASES FOR OTHER STATE EMPLOYEES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seven hundred thirty-seven thousand eight hundred sixty dollars ($737,860) is appropriated from the general fund to the administrative office of the courts for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to provide a four and one-half percent salary increase to justices, judges, magistrates, special commissioners and hearing officers, including child support hearing officers. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is the first full pay period after July 1, 2002.
