AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR VARIOUS SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS STATEWIDE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Five million one hundred sixteen thousand eight hundred twenty-five dollars ($5,116,825) is appropriated from the general fund to the state agency on aging for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) four million one hundred forty-seven thousand five hundred fifteen dollars ($4,147,515) to the six area agencies on aging for senior services such as case management, Alzheimer's respite care, adult daycare, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, transportation, in-home services and senior center services;

(2) five hundred seven thousand four hundred eighty-five dollars ($507,485) to provide for increased volunteers for the foster grandparent, senior companion and retired senior volunteer programs;

(3) forty-two thousand four hundred seventy-five dollars ($42,475) for increased information, assistance and education services for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related disorders and their families or caregivers;

(4) one hundred ninety-six thousand eight hundred fifty dollars ($196,850) for the health insurance and benefits assistance corps;

(5) one hundred forty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($142,500) for the long-term care ombudsman program; and

(6) eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) for planning and scholarships for the annual New Mexico conference on aging.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
