A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF ADMISSIONS OF THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED.



WHEREAS, the New Mexico military institute offers some of the best educational experiences in the state; and

WHEREAS, it is important for students to have experience studying with a diverse student body; and

WHEREAS, it is the right of all students regardless of their social and physical capacity to exercise their minds to their fullest capacity; and

WHEREAS, discrimination of any kind is anathema to a well-rounded educational experience;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the board of regents of New Mexico military institute be requested to study the feasibility of admissions of the physically challenged; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the board of regents report its findings to the legislative education study committee and the commission on higher education by November 1, 2001; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the board of regents of the New Mexico military institute.
