HONORING NEW MEXICO'S MANY CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS CONTRIBUTING TO OUR STATE'S WELL-BEING AND HEALTHY FUTURE.
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations are an integral and vital part of career and technical education; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations involve about ten thousand students statewide in skill-based education programs, including classroom instructions, work-based learning and community service; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations provide leadership development and competitive activities at the local, state and national levels; and
WHEREAS, partnerships with businesses, trade associations and professional organizations have been developed with these career and technical student organizations that provide excellent mentoring; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations support the economy by preparing students for the workplace, improving employment opportunities for New Mexicans and building students' self-esteem and confidence; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations such as distributive education clubs of America (DECA), business professionals of America, the technology student association, skills USA, vocational industrial clubs of America (VICA), family, career and community leaders of America and an organization for agricultural education students (FFA) all contribute in major ways to health core values, work ethics and good business practices;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that recognition and honor be extended to the many career and technical student organizations that contribute so much to the development of students into productive members of our society and fully participating citizens of New Mexico; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be sent to the various career and technical student organizations honored.
