Synopsis of HAFC Amendment
The House Appropriations and Finance Committee amendment clarifies that the fifteen dollar administrative fee charged to those receiving the special retired National Guard plates is in addition to the fee required in Section 66-6-2 NMSA 1978, which stipulates passenger vehicle registration fees.

The Senate Corporations and Transportation Committee amendment to Senate Bill 740 adds technical changes to the language to clarify that distinctive registration plates will be issued to any person who is retired from the New Mexico National Guard
Synopsis of Original Bill
Senate Bill 740 provides that special vehicle registration plates be available for retired members of the National Guard. The bill provides that the retired members would be assessed an administration fee of fifteen dollars annually ($15.00).
Significant Issues
Currently, statute allows for special vehicle registration plates only for current, active members of the National Guard at no cost.
