SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 613 appropriates $200.0 from the general fund to DOH for the purpose of providing temporary lodging in a residential facility in Albuquerque specifically for adult and child cancer patients and their families visiting Albuquerque for treatment purposes.
Significant Issues
The General Appropriation Act of 2000 included $50.0 for this facility (Casa Esperanza). Currently, HB2 contains no funding for the facility.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $200.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY02 shall revert to the general fund.
TECHNICAL ISSUES
HPC indicates the bill includes no criteria (i.e., specified income level) as to who may use the facility.
