Synopsis of House Joint Memorial
House Joint Memorial 26, asserts:
It requests the New Mexico labor department to develop an employment task force to develop a cooperative employment initiative for disable persons. The task force would include representatives from the department of health, the state department of education's division of vocational rehabilitation, the developmental disabilities planning council, the human services department, the governor's committee on the concerns of the handicapped, the commission for the blind, the commission for the deaf and hear-of-hearing, the state department on aging, the Indian behavioral health council, the governor's mental health planning council, the social security administration, employer groups that advocate for disabled employment opportunities, disabled service providers, and disabled persons and their families. The task force would be requested to prepare a report identifying barriers, problems and recommendations for providing employment services to disabled persons. Findings would be presented to the appropriate interim committee prior to the forty-fifth legislature.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
HJM 26 has no immediate fiscal impact.
