Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 655 appropriates $2,000.0 to the SDE to implement research-based high school reform efforts.
Significant Issues
To be eligible for funding, reform efforts must:
- align high schools with elementary and middle schools, postsecondary institu tions, and work opportunities;
- build upon business-education partnerships;
- utilize professional development; and
- engage youth in the reform process.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Bill 655 appropriates $2,000.0 from the general fund and is recurring.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
SDE will administer funds appropriated for high school reform. Schools will develop or refine current strategic plans for high school reform.
