Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 378 proposes to enact the Student Choice Voucher Act, related to school vouchers for elementary and secondary education. The bill authorizes redemption of vouchers at public schools.
Significant Issues
House Bill 378 establishes a three year phase in of a public school voucher program to allow all students residing in New Mexico to attend the public school of their choice.
The bill does not include private school participation.
The SDE has provided an in-depth analysis of the issues related to House Bill 378. The department addresses numerous fiscal, technical and substantive issues. The analysis is attached.
