SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 147 appropriates $556.2 from the general fund to New Mexico State University (NMSU) to create a family strengthening partnership parenting educational program.
Significant Issues
This educational program is intended improve the parenting skills of low-income families with high rates of substance abuse in Dona Ana, Luna, Otero, and Sierra counties.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $556.2 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY02 shall revert to the general fund.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPACT
Additional FTE's may be necessary to staff this program.
OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES
This program was not recommended for funding by the NMSU Board of Regents or the Commission on Higher Education.
