RELATING TO COUNTIES; CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES OF VALENCIA, BERNALILLO AND TORRANCE COUNTIES TO INCLUDE ALL OF THE PUEBLO OF ISELTA IN VALENCIA COUNTY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. Section 4-32-1 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1852-1853, Page 292, as amended) is amended to read:

"4-32-1. ORIGINAL AND MODERN BOUNDARIES OF VALENCIA COUNTY.--

A. [SEC. 56.] The original boundaries of the county of Valencia [shall be bounded] were as follows: on the south, drawing a line from a point between the town of Jose Pino and the house of Jose Antonio Chavez toward the east in the direction of the Bocas de Abo, and continuing said line along the Gabilan mountain until it terminates with the boundaries of the territory; drawing a direct line from the starting point of the eastern line, crossing the Rio del Norte, touching the dividing line between Belen and Sabinal, continuing the line in the direction of the Canada of the Alamito del Rio Puerco, and following in the direction of the Puerto de la Bolita de Oro, until it terminates with the boundary of the territory; on the north to be bounded by the county of Bernalillo.

B. The modern boundaries of Valencia county, which include all of the Pueblo of Isleta, are as follows:

beginning at the NW corner on the north boundary line of Isleta Indian Reservation; which is also known as the north second standard parallel line; where it connects with the east side of the Rio Puerco river in section 4, township 8 north, range 1 west of the New Mexico principal meridian and more particularly described as follows: easterly direction between township 8 north, range 1 west and township 9 north, range 1 west; thence easterly direction to the midpoint of section 3 on the north section line township 8 north, range 2 east; southerly direction to the midpoint of section 3 more or less; then westerly direction to the west line of section 3; thence southerly direction to the NW 1/4 corner SE 1/4 SW 1/4 section 3; thence easterly direction on the north line of S 1/2 S 1/2 of section 3, township 8 north, range 2 east; following the north line to NE 1/4 corner of SW 1/4 SW 1/4 section 4, township 8 north, range 6 east; thence southerly direction to the south section line section 4, more or less; thence easterly direction to the midpoint of south line of section 4 more or less, south 1320' more or less; then west 2640' to the west line of section 9, township 8 north, range 6 east; thence southeast direction to point NE 1/4 SW 1/4 of section 21, more or less; westerly direction about a 1/4 of mile and then SW direction to the east section line of section 29 (approximately 660' south from NE 1/4 section 29); thence westerly direction approximately 1/4 mile, then SW direction to the south section line of section 29 (approximately 2640' from SW 1/4 Corner); westerly direction to SW 1/4 corner of section 29; thence south approximately 660' on the east section line of section 31 southwest direction to the midpoint of section 32 township 8 north, range 6 east, more or less; thence SW direction approximately 660' to the midpoint of SW 1/4 of section 31; then going west approximately 1 1/4 mile section 36, township 8 north, range 5 east; south 1/2 mile going through Bernalillo and Torrance county line; then going one mile east to the section line; then south 660' more or less on section line; thence easterly direction 660' to a point; then SE direction to the midpoint of SW 1/4 of section 6, township 7 north, range 6 east; then easterly direction approximately 660'; then SE direction to the common corners of section 5, section 6, section 7 and section 8, township 7 north, range 6 east; thence south on section line 2 1/4 miles more or less; then westerly direction 1 1/4 miles into section 24 township 7 north, range 5 east; thence southwest direction to the S 1/2 section 24; then westerly direction to NW corner of section 26, more or less; thence west direction along the north section line to NW corner of section 30 township 7 north, range 5 east; also known as east Valencia county line; thence south along township line between range 4 east and range 5 east approximately 20 miles more or less; thence east along north section line of sections 6, 5 and 4, township 3 north, range 5 east, approximately 3 miles more or less; thence south along the east line of section 4, township 3 north, range 5 east, approximately 5 1/2 miles to the point on east line of section 33, township 3 north, range 5 east, more or less; thence SW direction to a point in the south line of section 31, approximately 3 1/2 miles more or less; thence NW direction to the midpoint of the NE 1/4 of section 27, township 3 north, range 4 east, more or less; thence NW direction to the midpoint on the west line of section 19, township 3 north, range 4 east more or less; thence northwest direction to the midpoint of the west line of section 19, township 3 north, range 4 east; thence northwest direction to the SW 1/4 corner section 33, township 4 north, range 2 east more or less; thence northwest direction to the NW corner of section 18, township 4 north, range 1 east, more or less; thence west along the south line of section 12, township 4 north, range 1 west to the SW corner of section 7, township 4 north range 3 west more or less; thence north along the township line between ranges 3 west and 4 west to the NW corner of section 6, township 8 north, range 3 west, more or less; thence east along the north line of section 6, township 8 north, range 3 west to the north line of section 5, township 8 north, range 2 west, approximately 7 3/4 miles more or less; thence SE direction to point where county line crossing Rio Puerco in section 35, township 8 north, range 2 west; thence northerly direction following east side of the Rio Puerco to section 4, township 8 north, range 1 west to point of beginning."
