MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE LIBRARY DIVISION OF THE OFFICE OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS TO EXPAND THE STATEWIDE MAGAZINE ON-LINE ELECTRONIC LIBRARY MATERIALS AND SERVICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the library division of the office of cultural affairs for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to expand the statewide magazine on-line electronic database program to make available full text periodicals and other reference materials to all public elementary, middle and junior high school libraries in an effort to improve student literacy skills. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
