REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT TO ASSESS THE NEED, PLAN AND DEVELOP A FINANCING PLAN FOR A WASTEWATER FACILITY FOR THE NORTHWEST SECTION OF GALLUP.
WHEREAS, the population in the northwest section of the city of Gallup has substantially increased in the past several years; and
WHEREAS, the increase in population has placed a strain on the wastewater needs within the city of Gallup; and
WHEREAS, the current wastewater plants located in the city of Gallup cannot provide the northwest section of the city with adequate wastewater services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the department of environment be requested to assess the need, plan and develop a financing plan for a wastewater facility for the northwest section of Gallup, New Mexico; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of environment.
