A JOINT MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT TO EXPAND UNITED STATES HIGHWAY 666 TO FOUR LANES FROM THE COYOTE CANYON ROAD TURNOFF TO SHIPROCK, NEW MEXICO.



WHEREAS, United States highway 666 from the Coyote Canyon road turnoff to Shiprock, New Mexico, is a dangerous stretch of highway; and

WHEREAS, this stretch of highway is only two lanes, yet receives a great deal of traffic; and

WHEREAS, numerous accidents have occurred as a result of individuals passing on this two-lane stretch of highway at high rates of speed;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state highway and transportation department be requested to expand United States highway 666 from the Coyote Canyon road turnoff to Shiprock, New Mexico; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of highway and transportation.
