REQUESTING THE STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT TO BUILD A NEW BRIDGE OVER THE SAN JUAN RIVER IN SHIPROCK, NEW MEXICO.
WHEREAS, there exists a great deal of traffic on New Mexico route 64 and United States highway 666 through Shiprock, New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, this traffic regularly travels on the bridge over the San Juan river in Shiprock, New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, the amount of traffic crossing the bridge over the San Juan river in Shiprock, New Mexico, causes delays and dangerous conditions; and
WHEREAS, the current bridge over the San Juan river in Shiprock, New Mexico, is very old and deteriorating; and
WHEREAS, the current bridge is too narrow for the amount of traffic it receives;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state highway and transportation department be requested to build a new wider bridge over the San Juan river in Shiprock, New Mexico, located on New Mexico route 64 and United States highway 666; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of highway and transportation.
