AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO ACQUIRE EQUIPMENT FOR THE STATE CRIME LABORATORY AND TO PAY SALARIES AND BENEFITS FOR ADDITIONAL FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES AT THE STATE CRIME LABORATORY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 for the following purposes:

(1) eight hundred nineteen thousand dollars ($819,000) to acquire new equipment and replace existing equipment for the state crime laboratory; and

(2) six hundred eighty-one thousand dollars ($681,000) to pay salaries and benefits for additional full-time employees at the state crime laboratory.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
