RECOGNIZING CAREER AND TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS OF NEW MEXICO FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF NEW MEXICO.
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations are an integral and vital part of career and technical education; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations involve about ten thousand students statewide in skill-based education programs, including classroom instruction, work-based learning and community service; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations provide leadership development and competitive activities at the local, state and national levels; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations have developed partnerships with businesses, trade associations and professional organizations; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations support the economy by preparing students for the workplace, improving employment opportunities for New Mexicans and building the students' self-esteem and confidence; and
WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations include DECA; FFA; business professionals of America; family, career and community leaders of America; SkillsUSA-VICA; and the technology student association;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the career and technical student organizations of New Mexico be recognized for their service to the citizens of New Mexico.
