44th legislature - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - second session, 2000

CONGRATULATING THE PERSONS INVOLVED WITH THE STUDENTS IN FREE ENTERPRISE PROGRAM AT THE COLLEGE OF THE SOUTHWEST AND ENDORSING AND JOINTLY PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 6-12, 2000 AS "TEACH A CHILD ABOUT BUSINESS WEEK".

WHEREAS, the college of the southwest students in free enterprise program presents extremely innovative, creative and effective free enterprise education programs, including a statewide K-9 teach a child about business program; and

WHEREAS, the teach a child about business program is a nationwide effort undertaken by hundreds of students in free enterprise teams from among the seven hundred colleges and universities worldwide that participate in the international students in free enterprise organization; and

WHEREAS, the college of the southwest students in free enterprise team undertakes to initiate a teach a child about business program throughout the state of New Mexico and in over thirty school districts; and

WHEREAS, many of the cities and towns where the school districts are located have proclaimed February 6-12, 2000 as "Teach A Child About Business Week", including all of the municipalities in Lea county, the home of the college of the southwest; and

WHEREAS, Governor Gary Johnson has proclaimed February 6- 12, 2000 as "Teach A Child About Business Week";

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that everyone involved with the students in free enterprise program at the college of the southwest be warmly congratulated for their outstanding contribution to the school children and the communities of New Mexico; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislature of the state of New Mexico heartily endorse and jointly proclaim with Governor Gary Johnson that February 6-12, 2000 be "Teach a Child About Business Week" throughout New Mexico and urge all citizens to take this opportunity to learn more about the free enterprise system that unites and drives our great nation; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the college of the southwest.
