REQUESTING THE COMMISSION ON HIGHER EDUCATION TO DEVELOP DATA ABOUT FACULTY AND EMPLOYEES AT STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

WHEREAS, compensation decisions in institutions of higher education require the use of accurate and current data; and

WHEREAS, accurate and current data about classified and part-time faculty salaries at institutions of higher education is not readily available; and

WHEREAS, compensation and classification inequities cannot be remedied without accurate statewide compensation comparisons; and

WHEREAS, accurate and current part-time and full-time faculty ratios are necessary for sound fiscal decision-making;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the commission on higher education be requested to compile salary and classification data of all classified employees and part-time faculty at all institutions of higher education in the state; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the commission on higher education be requested to study, develop data and provide programmatic reasons for the part-time and full-time faculty ratios; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the executive director of the commission on higher education and the chairman of the legislative education study committee.
