Synopsis of Bill

SM 2 requests the US Postmaster General and the US Postal Service to designate the city of Rio Rancho with its post office, Zip Code, Postmark and Postmaster.

Significant Issues

SM 2 specifies that:

•City of Rio Rancho has grown to be NM fourth largest city

•US census bureau has certified the current population of Rio Rancho at over 50,000
•Population projections place the population of Rio Rancho at over 100,000 by the year 2020
•Rio Rancho is no longer a suburb but a growing municipality
•Rio Rancho has been an appendage of Albuquerque post office since its inception.
