SUMMARY
Synopsis of SCONC Amendment
The Senate Conservation Committee amendment deletes language that requested OSE not to oppose the rights of acequia associations to be heard before the appropriate courts regarding errors and omissions, and includes language to have OSE work with acequias and community ditches toward resolution of those issues that remain unresolved after negotiations.
Synopsis of Original Bill
SJM 67 requests the Office of the State Engineer (OSE) to negotiate, investigate and correct errors and omissions in the adjudication of individual water rights for members of acequias and community ditches. The memorial also urges OSE to not oppose the rights of acequias in the event that negotiations do not resolve errors and omissions, that these associations can bring their claims before the appropriate court of law.
