SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Joint Memorial 14 requests the office of the Secretary of State to develop criteria for implementing and maintaining a registry of community land grants in a uniform and clear manner that will preserve the historical, cultural and legal record for the future.
Significant Issues
The agency expects to have to appoint a committee of individuals who are knowledgeable in land grant issues to assist in the implementation process.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The joint resolution does not provide for expenses of the criteria development. It is unclear as to the extent of the fiscal impact; however, the agency will absorb the tasks within the existing budget.
