SUMMARY



Synopsis of Bill



The bill provides $250.0 to contract for culturally appropriate HIV/AIDS services for Native Americans in New Mexico.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



The bill appropriates $250.0 in general fund in FY01 to the Department of Health (DOH).



Laws of 1999, Chapter 3, the General Appropriation Act, contained $150.0 in general fund for HIV culturally competent case management for Native Americans. This funding is in the base of the Public Health Division's budget in FY01 if the department decides not to eliminate the program.



The HAFC substitute for HB2 currently contains $500.0 in tobacco settlement revenue for expansion of HIV/AIDS services.

HB135 relates to SB58 which appropriates $750.0 for expansion of HIV/AIDS services.
