AN ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS; AMENDING A SECTION OF THE HISTORICAL CODES ACT TO REQUIRE POSTING OF AT LEAST ONE HISTORICAL CODE IN EACH PUBLIC SCHOOL CLASSROOM.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. Section 22-15-18 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1981, Chapter 29, Section 4) is amended to read:

"22-15-18. POSTING OF COPY.--Each local school board [~~may~~] shall, to the extent funds are available pursuant to Section [~~3 of the Historical Codes Act~~] 22-15-17 NMSA 1978, post in a prominent place, in a nondiscriminatory manner not favoring one religious or ethno-cultural background over another, durable, permanent copies of [~~the historical codes~~] at least one historical code in each regular instructional classroom in the school district."
