MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOR A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF BORDERING STATES AND NEW MEXICO TO IDENTIFY BARRIERS TO INCREASED VALUE-ADDED AGRICULTURAL PROCESSING OPERATIONS IN NEW MEXICO AND PRESCRIBE POLICIES TO PROMOTE INCREASED USE OF NEW MEXICO PRODUCED AGRICULTURE PRODUCTS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to fund a comparative study by the New Mexico department of agriculture of bordering states and New Mexico to identify barriers to increased value-added agriculture processing operations in New Mexico and to prescribe policies to promote increased use of New Mexico produced agricultural products. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
