MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND STATE PARTICIPATION IN AN EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVE THAT WILL ACCELERATE EDUCATION REFORM PROVIDING QUALITY IN NEW MEXICO SCHOOLS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to fund state participation in an educational initiative that will accelerate the application of quality principles to improve student and system performance in public schools statewide. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
