AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR THE NEW MEXICO HEALTH SERVICE CORPS TO SUPPORT THE RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION OF HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS WHO TREAT RURAL OR UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS OR PATIENTS OF FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTERS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five million dollars ($5,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2026 and 2027 for the New Mexico health service corps to support the recruitment and retention of health care providers who treat rural or underserved populations or patients of federally qualified health centers; provided that no more than two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) may be expended for administrative costs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2027 shall revert to the general fund.
