Your FINANCE COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
SENATE BILL 242, as amended
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. On page 3, line 9, after "be", insert "initially".
2. On page 3, line 18, strike the second occurrence of "and".
3. On page 3, line 20, after "classrooms", insert "; and" and between lines 20 and 21, insert:
"(4) for teacher candidates placed in elementary classrooms, the one hundred hours of supervised field experience must be in public school classrooms".
4. On page 4, line 17, strike the second occurrence of "and".
5. On page 4, line 19, after "classrooms", insert "; and" and between lines 19 and 20 insert:
"(4) for special education teacher candidates placed in elementary school classrooms, the one hundred hours of supervised field experience must be in public school classrooms".
6. On page 6, line 5, after "schools", insert ", public post-secondary teacher and administrator preparation programs".
7. On page 6, line 11, strike "schools" and insert in lieu thereof "post-secondary teacher and administrator preparation programs".
8. On page 13, line 14, after "experience", strike the remainder of the line and strike line 15 up to the period.
9. On page 18, lines 16 through 25, strike Paragraph (5).
10. Renumber the succeeding paragraphs accordingly.
11. On page 19, line 2, after "hours", insert ", including six hours".
12. On page 19, line 3, after "months", strike the remainder of the line, strike lines 4 through 6 and strike line 7 through "endorsement" and insert in lieu thereof "in the area of structured literacy and the science of reading".
13. On page 19, line 8, strike "in" and insert in lieu thereof ". For teacher candidates placed in elementary classrooms, the one hundred hours of supervised field work must be in public school".
