AN ACT

RELATING TO WATER; CREATING A COMMUNITY WATER AND WASTEWATER SYSTEM ASSISTANCE PILOT PROJECT; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. [NEW MATERIAL] COMMUNITY WATER AND WASTEWATER SYSTEM ASSISTANCE PILOT PROJECT--CREATED.--

          A. The "community water and wastewater system assistance pilot project" is created as a three-year pilot project to support statewide technical assistance providers that support public community water and public community wastewater systems.

          B. The community water and wastewater system assistance pilot project shall be administered by the local government division of the department of finance and administration.

          C. A community water or wastewater system that participates in the community water and wastewater system assistance pilot project shall receive assistance, as needed, with technical, financial and managerial operations.

     SECTION 2. APPROPRIATION.--Nine hundred thousand dollars ($900,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal years 2026 through 2028 for the community water and wastewater assistance pilot project. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2028 shall revert to the general fund.
