AN ACT

RELATING TO CHILDREN; REQUIRING THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT TO ISSUE IDENTIFICATION CARDS TO LICENSED FOSTER PARENTS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of the Children's Code is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] FOSTER PARENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS.--Except for a provisional or temporary license, upon licensure to operate a foster home by the department or a child placement agency, the department shall issue an identification card to a foster parent to provide the foster parent with a means of identifying that foster parent as a licensed foster care provider during the time that foster parent provides care to a child or youth in the custody of the department."
